Envoy: Iran best economic partner for Japan in Middle East
Tokyo, May 30, IRNA -- Iran's ambassador to Japan said here on Saturday that Japan will have no economic partner better than Iran in the Middle East.
In a meeting with the Iranian delegation headed by Mohammad Nahavandian, head of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi added that given its political and economic stability, geographic location and young manpower, Iran has provided the best opportunity for the presence of Japanese companies in the region. Referring to excellent ties between Iran and Japan, the ambassador also recalled that efforts should be taken to maintain relations at the current level and even upgrade them. He pointed to the joint seminar held by Iranian and Japanese chambers of commerce in the past week and described them as steps in line with promoting economic interaction between the two countries. Iran prioritizes the import of non-oil goods to foreign countries such as Japan, he said, noting that saffron, medicinal plants, pistachio and carpet are among the commodities Iran can export to the country. Nanotechnology, biotechnology, optimizing fuel consumption, implementing joint economic projects in Iraq and Afghanistan are the areas of cooperation between Iran and Japan, he said.
