Iranian companies urged to increase activities in Kazakhstan

Visiting Kazakh Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Edil Mamytbekov on Tuesday called on Iran companies to increase their activities in Kazakhstan.

He made the remark during the conference on Iran-Kazakhstan trade and economic opportunities in Tehran.

"Some 384 Iranian companies have been settled in Kazakhstan of which 207 are active," Mamytbekov said.

He put the value of the two countries' transactions at dlrs 2 billion in 2007 of which less than dlrs 400 million was related to non-oil export.

Mamytbekov also urged Iranian investors to make investment in the processing industry.

The Kyrgyz official further cited transportation, chemical industry, metals, oil, gas, foodstuff and agriculture as the main important areas of cooperation.
