40 pc of Iran-made cars should be exported: IDRO chief
More than 40 percent of the automobiles produced in the country should be exported, said head of Iran's Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO).
Speaking at a ceremony to unveil Saipa National Engine 231, Ahmad Qalehbani added that strategic law for auto industries is under compilation and will soon be declared by Industries and Mines Ministry.
Stating that the auto industry has the most value-added in the industries sector, he said that auto manufacturing is the sole industry underlined in the '20-Year Vision Plan'.
Maintaining that the industry cannot continue its activities without state support, he further said that IDRO has imported new technologies to promote local industries' progress.
Stating that Iran should rank first in the export of automobiles in the region, Qalehbani said, "To gain the position, we have to take advantage of advanced technologies." Auto manufacturing industry should increase its share in gross national product to four percent form the present two percent and Iran's auto production rate in the global markets should reach three percent from 1.7 percent, he said.
